AIA Columbus congratulates Jonathan Barnes, FAIA, on receiving the 2025 AIA Ohio Gold Medal—the highest honor awarded by AIA Ohio. This distinction recognizes exemplary contributions and significant accomplishments by members across a range of professional categories.
Jonathan is a design leader whose work has shaped the architectural landscape in Ohio and beyond. He was the founding principal of Jonathan Barnes Architecture and Design, a Columbus-based firm widely recognized for its innovative and contextually responsive work. Today, he continues to advance design excellence as co-managing director of the Gensler Columbus office, bringing his vision and experience to one of the world’s most influential architecture and design firms.
A dedicated leader in the profession, Jonathan served as President of AIA Columbus in 2014 and has long championed thoughtful, modern architecture, and civic engagement.
