Nominations for the 2027 AIA Columbus Board of Directors are now being accepted. The following positions on the board are open:

  • President-Elect (3 years)
  • Treasurer (1-year term)
  • Secretary (1-year term)
  • Director (2-year term) (3 director positions open)

The leadership criteria to serve on the Board of Directors.

The Nominating Committee will select the slate of candidates. The slate will be voted on by members November 4-November 10, online. The annual business meeting will be on November 4th, at noon, via Zoom. Questions? OFFICERS

The following three positions are Officers of the AIA Columbus Board of Directors, and as such are members of the Executive Committee. The Executive Committee meets monthly providing preliminary reviews, comments, and opinions on matters submitted to the Board of Directors for action. Associate Members may serve as officers but may not hold more than one-third of the total seats on the Board of Directors.

President-Elect: (3-year term; one available position)

The President-Elect is elected by the membership with the understanding that this person shall assume the role of President and Immediate Past President in subsequent years. The President shall exercise general supervision over the affairs of the Chapter and shall preside at meetings of the Chapter and Board of Directors. The President shall act as spokesperson of the Chapter and as its representative at meetings unless otherwise delegated by the Board of Directors. The President-Elect shall possess all the powers and perform all the duties of the President in the event of absence of, refusal to act or failure to act. The President-Elect shall succeed to the office of President upon expiration of the term or vacancy in the office of the President. This position will be the Chapter President in 2028.

Treasurer: (1-year term; one available position)

The Treasurer has general supervision of financial affairs for the Chapter; prepares the budget; and has custody of accounts. The Treasurer reviews the Chapter’s securities and all financial commitments.

Secretary: (1-year term; one available position)

The Secretary shall act as the recording and corresponding secretary and as secretary of meetings of the Chapter and the Board of Directors; and shall have custody of and shall safeguard and keep in good order all the property of the Chapter.

 

DIRECTOR

Director: (2-year term, three available director positions)

Through the authority granted in the articles of incorporation and bylaws, the Board of Directors ensure the board’s vision and priorities are understood and met, identify new program ideas, understand the finances, and represent the organization. Collectively, the Board of Directors are responsible for:

  • Governance of the organization and ensures strategic and financial stability to guarantee the long-term success and continuance of AIA Columbus;
  • Policy and position development that will guide the organization and members;
  • Setting a visionary course for the organization well into the future; and
  • Protecting the organization while keeping the public trust.
