Advocacy Alert

Written by Erin Reilly-Sanders, AIA

AIA has been successfully advocating on behalf of you and our profession with current progress on:

  • Claiming R&D expenditures in the year they were incurred
  • Permanent 199A pass-through deduction for qualified business income of 23%
  • Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) volume cap increases
  • Maintaining 179D energy efficient commercial building deduction and Historic Tax Credits

Other federal support for sustainability initiatives (e.g. Energy Star, IRA energy tax credits), resilience programs (e.g. NOAA, FEMA, BRIC), and health requirements (e.g. air quality standards for schools, product labeling) remains in danger. Here is how you can help.

“Spring into Action”

AIA has provided a new tool to email and call representatives through the Spring into Action Campaign. Join hundreds of members from 44 states and Washington DC in advocating for Energy Star, Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) Funding, Affordable Housing Credit Improvement Act (AHCIA), Historic Preservation, Design Freedom, and more at https://aia.quorum.us/springintoaction/ . Together we can amplify the voice of the profession!
