Join AIA Columbus for an engaging and timely session featuring city leaders and planning professionals as they dive into Phase Two of Columbus’s groundbreaking Zone‑In zoning code modernization initiative.

Building on the success of the 2024 reforms—where new mixed‑use districts along major transit corridors unlocked capacity for tens of thousands of new homes—Phase Two expands the reach to more than 66,000 additional parcels across the city.

This phase emphasizes:

• Expanding housing opportunities – especially near key institutions such as universities, hospitals, and business campuses, creating more equitable access to homes and jobs
• Encouraging vibrant mixed‑use developments that integrate residential, commercial, institutional, and walkable public spaces
• Reforming industrial and institutional zoning policies to support job centers—like warehouses and office campuses—while ensuring compatibility with nearby neighborhoods
• Creating more predictable and equitable development frameworks, with clearer design standards, objective performance measures, and better alignment with community goals and infrastructure capacity
