Learn about the challenges, triumphs, and defining moments that have shaped their journeys and brought them to where they are today. Todd Boyer, AIA serves as a project executive for the Columbus, Ohio office of Fanning Howey. Todd offers a national design perspective while placing emphasis on inspiring and innovative academic environments. As a trusted advisor and leader, Todd’s passionate pursuit of quality design has led to continuous local and national recognition. His work has appeared in numerous publications and was recently awarded a 2025 AIA Design Award from AIA Ohio and AIA Columbus.
In 2022, Todd was named the AIA Ohio Public Service Award Honoree in recognition of his purpose-driven design leadership throughout his community. He was also named to the Sun Devil Power 100, Class of 2023, by the Arizona State University Alumni Association for the impact of his leadership. He currently serves on the Upper Arlington Board of Zoning and Planning while previously serving on the Plain City Design Review Board, the Italian Village Commission, and multiple Executive Board positions for the Boy Scouts of America, Simon Kenton Council.
Todd holds a Master of Architecture from Arizona State University and a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from The Ohio State University.
Sara Boyer, AIA, NCARB, NCIDQ, LEED AP, is a Principal and Recreation Practice Leader at Moody Nolan with more than 25 years of experience leading the design of recreation and wellness facilities across the country. Her portfolio includes the 420,000 SF award-winning France A. Córdova Recreational Sports Center at Purdue University and the nine-story Recreation and Wellness Center at the University of Pittsburgh. Sara is a co-author of Facility Building & Renovation, part of the NIRSA Campus Recreation Essentials series (forthcoming, 2026), and the only architect among its five authors. She is a frequent speaker at national industry conferences, including NIRSA and Athletic Business.
Beyond her project work, Sara is deeply committed to advancing the profession through mentorship, AIA leadership at the local, state, and national levels, and the creation of Moody Nolan’s Emerging Professionals program. She received the AIA Ohio Mentor Award in 2018 in recognition of her contributions to developing future leaders in architecture. Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Sara has lived and traveled extensively, bringing a broad perspective and a deep understanding of communities to projects across the country. She holds a Master of Architecture from Arizona State University and a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Illinois Urbana–Champaign.
